The Red Bird Maker Space workshops are designed for project-based experimental teaching, following the philosophy of “learning by doing” and “applying knowledge in practice”. It aims to establish an engineering challenge center that integrates learning, practice, and skill development. The workshops include the Carpentry and 3D Modeling Workshop, Machining and Fabrication Workshop, Materials Preparation Workshop, Precision Measurement and Electrical Workshop, and Multi-media Workshop. Through practical activities such as project design, experimental setup, and sample performance testing, students gain a deep understanding of the entire product development process and promote the implementation and practical application of projects.
The workshops serve as a core platform that integrates interdisciplinary project-based teaching and open sharing. It provides students with a versatile space that combines theory with experimental operations, discussions, and showcases of achievements. The workshops are managed by a team of professional engineers with rich practical experience and project implementation experience. They not only impart professional skills but also share valuable industry experience, providing students with comprehensive support and guidance.

Carpentry and 3D Modeling Workshop
The Carpentry and 3D Modeling Workshop primarily focuses on non-metallic material processing, including wood, epoxy fiberglass sheet, and plastic. The ease of processing these materials determines the workshop’s relatively low entry threshold, making it easier for students to use. This workshop is equipped with a variety of processing equipment and tools, emphasizing the improvement of students’ hands-on skills and practical operations.

The Machining and Fabrication Workshop mainly focuses on the processing of metal and cardboard. Equipped with a range of high-end equipment and various hand tools, it can not only produce precision parts but also create interesting cardboard models, transforming curiosity and creativity into practical technology and products.

Materials Preparation Workshop
Materials Preparation Workshop focuses on the preparation and characterization of materials, providing a platform for students to build their own material chemical synthesis equipment for sample pretreatment, microstructure analysis, mechanical and thermal properties characterization. It encourages hands-on operation to enhance students’ practical skills.

The AI Computing Workshop is equipped with a range of computing and perception equipment such as high-performance workstation, 3D handheld scanner, VR headset, NAS Storage Devices and depth sensor. This space is dedicated to support machine learning, computational modeling and navigation & positioning, and improving students’ project practice skills.

Multimedia Workshop
The Multimedia Workshop is mainly aimed at multimedia creation such as photography, video, and audio, and provides various related equipment and professional post-production software for students to use. The workshop has hardware equipment such as professional-grade studios, blue box filming rooms, virtual production LED screens, and also provides some cutting-edge technologies such as Extended Reality and Virtual Production, so that students can get in touch with emerging multimedia creation methods.
