The College of Future Technology (CFT) at HKUST(GZ) builds upon the RBM’s project-based learning model to create an integrated ecosystem that bridges scientific research and entrepreneurial practice.
To extend this pathway from research to impact, the College established the Bridge Program, a signature initiative that transforms the Red Bird training system into a structured entrepreneurship platform. Supported by a diverse mentorship network, the program provides Red Bird graduates and current students with opportunities for project education and venture creation in authentic business environments. Through systematic training and continuous mentor engagement, participants develop essential competencies in teamwork, business design, product development, and market validation—enabling a seamless transition from the lab to the marketplace.
The Bridge Program is powered by the Lab of Future Technology, the University’s Entrepreneurship Center, extensive mentor-industry-investor networks, and targeted venture support. Together, these resources form a dynamic “Education–Entrepreneurship” loop. Complemented by active alumni networks, maker spaces, and regular sharing events, CFT fosters a vibrant entrepreneurial culture that empowers students to turn bold ideas into tangible innovations and sustainable ventures.
The Bridge Program is initiated and organized by the College of Future Technology(CFT) of HKUST(GZ). It is an important extension of the Red Bird MPhil Program (RBM) education in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship. Building on the foundation of RBM in cross-disciplinary collaboration, problem-driven learning, and project practice, the program aims to provide essential transitional support for students with entrepreneurial aspirations, systematically cultivating their key capabilities in innovation and entrepreneurship.
